(WACO, Texas) — The Texas Sports Hall of Fame is proud to announce legendary coach, administrator and 2005 TSHOF inductee R.C. Slocum as the next recipient of the prestigious Lamar Hunt Lifetime Achievement Award.

Slocum will be presented the award during the Lamar Hunt Lifetime Achievement Legends Gala Friday, November 13, 2026 at Kyle Field’s Ford Hall of Champions in College Station. That is the night before the Aggies’ home football game against Tennessee.

The Lamar Hunt Lifetime Achievement Award, established in 2006, is the Texas Sports Hall of Fame’s highest honor. Its purpose is to recognize individuals whose leadership, vision and service have made a lasting impact on sports in Texas and beyond.

Slocum recently completed his 53rd year representing Texas A&M, and remains the winningest football coach in school history with a 123-47-2 record from 1989-2002. Under his leadership, the Aggies never posted a losing season, captured four conference championships and had a record 29 straight Southwest Conference victories over four years.

Beyond coaching, Slocum served twice as Texas A&M’s interim athletic director and until January 2025 served as special assistant to the university president. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2012 and received the prestigious Amos Alonzo Stagg Award from the American Football Coaches Association in 2014.

Slocum is the first Aggie to win the Lamar Hunt Lifetime Achievement Award and the first recipient of the award since the Lamar Hunt family in 2019.

Previous recipients include Red McCombs (2006), Don Carter (2009), Drayton McLane (2014), Dave and Reba Campbell (2015), Rudy Davalos (2016), Bob McNair (2018) and the Hunt family (2019).
