Colt McCoy, emerged as a standout quarterback at Jim Ned High School in Tuscola, Texas. He finished his high school career as the all-time leading passer in 2A history with 9,344 yards and 116 touchdown passes. He was twice named the AP All-State 2A Offensive MVP. McCoy’s journey continued at the University of Texas (2005-2009), where he established himself as a force to be reckoned with by passing for 13,253 career yards and 112 TDs and eventually setting 47 school records. As the starting quarterback for the Texas Longhorns, he had a 45-8 record, which ranks 2nd on the NCAA’s list of career wins by a quarterback. McCoy was named All-America in 2008 & 2009, was a two-time Walter Camp National Player of the Year and a two-time Heisman Trophy finalist. He won the Davey O’Brien Award, the Maxwell Award, the Manning Award for the national’s top QB and the Unitas Golden Arm Award. One of the most celebrated quarterbacks in Texas Longhorn history, in 2010 his #12 jersey was retired by the University of Texas. McCoy was drafted by the Cleveland Browns in the third round of the 2010 NFL Draft. Throughout his NFL career, he played for several teams, including the Cleveland Browns, San Francisco 49ers, Washington Redskins, New York Giants and Arizona Cardinals. He was inducted into the Texas Sports Hall of Fame in 2024.
