Dallas Stars Welcome Back Mike Modano

On Thursday, the Dallas Stars made an announcement confirming that Mike Modano will be returning to their organization from which he retired in 2011. However, this time instead of being on the ice he will be in the offices working as their executive advisor and alternate governor.  Mark Recchi and Marty Turco will also be joining the Stars’ staff as they celebrate their 20th anniversary in Dallas.

Modano is the Stars’ all-time leading scorer and aided them to two consecutive appearances in the Stanley Cup Finals.  He also helped them capture the Stanley Cup in 1999.  The seven-time NHL All-Star is still the all-time leading American born scorer holding franchise records in almost every category.  He retired with the Stars in 2011 after playing the sport for 21 years. Following his retirement he was inducted into the United States Hockey Hall of Fame in 2012.

Although Modano is new to the business side of the sport, he is willing to learn and is ready to embrace the change.  Modano does have some experience under his belt from his minority ownership of the Allen Americans and is looking forward to being a part of the Stars’ organization once again.
